A New Chapter in the MCU
Marvel is returning to the small screen with VisionQuest, a pseudo-sequel to WandaVision and Agatha All Along. The limited series picks up with Paul Bettany’s Vision as he goes into hiding, forced to reconcile with the complex AI personas existing within his own mind—including Ultron, F.R.I.D.A.Y., and J.A.R.V.I.S.
Showrunner Terry Matalas has promised a unique narrative structure, noting that each episode of the eight-part series feels like a different kind of film, similar to how WandaVision utilized sitcom tropes to tell its story. For long-time fans, the series is positioned as a rewarding deep dive into the lore of the Marvel Cinematic Universe as part of Phase Six.
The Unique Release Schedule
Unlike the typical weekly rollout, Disney+ is employing a hybrid approach for VisionQuest to keep the momentum going through November. The show premieres with a two-episode debut on October 14, followed by two-episode batches for the subsequent weeks, before slowing down for the final two episodes.
- October 14, 2026: Episodes 1 & 2 (Premiere)
- October 21, 2026: Episodes 3 & 4
- October 28, 2026: Episodes 5 & 6
- November 4, 2026: Episode 7
- November 11, 2026: Episode 8 (Finale)
Cast and Character Returns
Paul Bettany leads the series, which also features Emily Hampshire in the role of E.D.I.T.H. Interestingly, Hampshire admitted she initially had to look up what the "MCU" meant when she was cast, later undergoing rigorous "Disney training" to keep the show's secrets safe. Faran Tahir is also set for a major return, reprising his role as Raza—the leader of the Ten Rings cell—nearly two decades after his first appearance in 2008's Iron Man.
Hampshire describes her E.D.I.T.H. as 'part cheerleader, part AI, part malfunctioning theme park ride,' a system once used to hand a teenager access to drones and satellites that has now been reprogrammed for fun.
