A New Chapter for the Leaping Cat
Jaguar is officially stepping into a new era. After years of speculation and a major shift in creative philosophy, the British automaker has debuted the Type 01, a fully electric four-door Grand Tourer. This model is more than just a new vehicle; it is the first production manifestation of Jaguar's 'Copy Nothing' strategy, designed to distance the brand from its traditional past while leaning into a high-performance, modernist future.

Unrivaled Performance and JEA Architecture
At the core of the Type 01 lies Jaguar’s new dedicated electric architecture, known as JEA. This platform was developed specifically to achieve the car's striking proportions and long wheelbase. The numbers are staggering: a tri-motor setup delivers up to 1,030 horsepower and 1,365 Nm of torque. This allows the luxury GT to sprint from 0-62 mph (0-100 km/h) in just 3.2 seconds.
- Architecture: 850-volt electrical system
- Battery: 118 kWh usable capacity
- Charging: Rapid charging from 10-80% in approximately 22 minutes (up to 350kW)
- Range: Up to 400 miles (EPA-estimated)
Interior Design: A 'Central Spine' Approach
Inside, the Type 01 avoids the common industry trend of filling the dashboard with excessive screens. Instead, it utilizes a 24-inch OLED display that integrates seamlessly into the cabin, complemented by a smaller 7-inch portrait touchscreen for essential functions like climate and audio. The cabin features a unique 'central spine' that runs through the interior, creating four distinct passenger spaces while emphasizing the car's scale and luxury.
Type 01 embodies Jaguar's renewed vision of modern luxury, combining dramatic design, craftsmanship and innovation to create an unmistakable presence.

The Road Ahead
With a starting price expected in the $130,500 range, the Type 01 enters a competitive segment. However, Jaguar is betting on its combination of Formula E-derived racing technology and its heritage-inspired naming convention—where 'Type' pays homage to legends, '0' signals zero emissions, and '1' marks the first of this new generation—to capture the hearts of luxury buyers. Deliveries are scheduled to commence in mid-2027.
