A New Way to Watch on the Road
In-vehicle entertainment is evolving rapidly, and the latest iteration of the Mercedes-Benz S-Class in South Korea is leading the charge. LG Uplus has officially integrated its 'Live TV Plus' service into the luxury sedan, transforming the cabin into a mobile media hub with 28 broadcast channels ranging from news and golf to music and children's programming.
Unlike legacy systems that rely on Digital Multimedia Broadcasting (DMB), this new service leverages high-speed wireless connectivity tailored for vehicles. This means passengers can enjoy a reliable stream even in traditionally signal-poor environments like underground parking structures or tunnels.

Built for the MBUX Ecosystem
The integration is more than just a software port; it was a collaborative engineering effort. LG Uplus worked closely with Mercedes-Benz to ensure the interface feels like a native part of the Mercedes-Benz User Experience (MBUX) system. Key features of this integration include:
- Zero-Authentication Access: Users can jump straight into viewing without needing to navigate complex login screens or account setups.
- Multi-Display Independence: Different displays within the car can show different channels simultaneously, catering to individual passenger preferences.
- Brand Hub: A dedicated Mercedes-Benz channel serves as a portal for new vehicle showcases and brand campaigns.
- Adaptive UX: The interface adjusts its layout and functionality based on the vehicle's state, such as whether it is parked or in motion.
The Future of Connected Cars
This move highlights a broader trend of technology giants partnering with automotive manufacturers to refine the 'software-defined vehicle' experience. After passing rigorous security, quality, and technology screenings, LG Uplus is now an official software vendor for Mercedes-Benz. The company has already indicated plans to roll out this service to additional models, including the upcoming all-electric GLC.
