A Career Back on Track
Chelsea winger Mykhailo Mudryk has officially returned to the fold, rejoining the club's pre-season tour after a turbulent period away from the sport. The Ukrainian international, who has not played professionally since November 2024, is now cleared to compete with immediate effect following the resolution of a high-profile anti-doping case.

The Legal Battle Behind the Ban
The ordeal began in October 2024 when an out-of-competition test conducted while Mudryk was on international duty revealed a low concentration of meldonium, a prohibited cardiovascular medication. In January 2026, an independent regulatory commission handed the winger a four-year period of ineligibility.
Mudryk consistently maintained his innocence, asserting that he never knowingly or intentionally ingested banned substances. Following an appeal to the Court of Arbitration for Sport (CAS) and subsequent negotiations with the English Football Association, the ban was rescinded. The resolution was facilitated by changes to WADA technical documents regarding meldonium, resulting in an agreement where the suspension was reduced to time already served.
- October 2024: Adverse finding for meldonium during international duty.
- January 2026: Independent commission imposes a four-year ban.
- August 2026: Appeal resolved; Mudryk cleared to return to immediate play.
This has been the most difficult period of my career. As I have always maintained from the outset of this case, I have never knowingly or intentionally taken any banned substance.
— Mykhailo Mudryk
What Lies Ahead for Mudryk and Chelsea
Mudryk has already been spotted integrating back into Chelsea’s training sessions as the team prepares for their pre-season fixtures, including a high-profile match against Juventus in the Hong Kong Football Festival. While he faces the challenge of regaining full match fitness after such a long layoff, his return provides a significant boost to the squad's attacking depth.
